Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan

One of the largest aquariums in the world

The Kaiyukan is one of the largest aquariums in the world, reproducing 10 ocean regions from around the Pacific Rim by using 14 tanks centering on .the Pacific Ocean tank where the world’s largest fish “whale shark” swims. The aquarium houses a total of 30,000 marine animals of 580 species. Adults and children can enjoy watching them all day long here.

This area centering on Osaka Castle associated with Hideyoshi Toyotomi is Osaka’s richest area in greenery. You will be something of an “Osaka savvy” person after visiting historical sites such as the ruins of Naniwa Palace, which is said to be the ruins of the ancient capital during the Asuka Period (538-710) and the Nara Period (710-794), and the Osaka Museum of History, where you can trace the history of Osaka from those periods to the present day.
