Referred to as "Levesta," this stadium is a location where the 2019 Rugby World Cup will take place as well as the home stadium of the soccer team Avispa Fukuoka

3 matches of the 2019 Rugby World Cup will be held at this stadium. Originally named “Hakata Forest Stadium,” there are 2 covered stands, and soccer, rugby and American football and others are played here.

Tochoji Temple

The first temple that Kukai (a Buddhist monk) built when he came to Japan in the year 806

The oldest temple in Japan that was established by Kobo Daishi (another name for Kukai). The Fukuoka Daibutsu is the largest wooden seated Buddha statue in Japan. The “”Jigoku Gokuraku Meguri”” inside the pedestal is also popular. You can also see a five-storied pagoda and the Rokkakudo (hexagonal building).

FUKUOKA Pay Pay DOME

A stadium for sports, events and concerts with seating for 50,000 people

Jotenji Temple

Birthplace of Hakata Woven goods and Hakata Gion Yamakasa

The birthplace of udon, soba, manju, Hakata Woven goods and Hakata Gion Yamakasa. In front of the main hall, there is a traditional Japanese dry garden with white sand and trees that represents the Genkai Sea and the mainland of China. During events the area is open to the public.

Rakusuien

A relaxing Japanese garden in the center of the city

A Japanese garden in a plot of land in the middle of an office area that was made using the remains of a wealthy Hakata merchant’s home. You can enjoy the Japanese feeling throughout the seasons when walking through the garden as well as with the matcha in the teahouse.

Hakata Sightseeing, Open Top Bus

An open top double decker bus that will take you around the main tourist spots in Fukuoka City

Hakataza

An authentic playhouse for theater where Kabuki and musicals are performed

The largest theater-only playhouse in Kyushu. Complete with a revolving stage, hanamichi (walkway through the audience to the stage) and an orchestra pit, the building is symbolic as the “”Hakata art spot.”” The event where Kabuki actors appear together in public riding on a boat that takes place before the showing in June is also recommended.

Dazaifu Tenmangu

The God of Literature, the enshrined Michizane Sugawara rests here

Dazaifu Tenmangu, where the God of Literature Michizane Sugawara is enshrined, is visited by people from all over Japan who wish to pray for good test scores. Visiting the nearby Kyushu National Museum is also recommended.

Canal City Hakata

A compound commercial facility where shopping and theater can be enjoyed

A large shopping mall built in the image of a canal. There is a cinema, a theater, amusement facilities, restaurants and various other types of shops so that shopping, having fun and eating can all be enjoyed.

Fukuoka City Museum

A museum close to Fukuoka Tower

The “King of Na” gold seal, which is a national treasure, is permanently displayed. In the “Touch & Experience” room, various instruments, traditional clothing, toys and more from around Asia can be experienced.

Kushida Shrine

Nicknamed "O-Kushidasan," the shrine is dedicated to the Hakata Gion Yamakasa

At Hakata Gion Yamakasa, one of the local deities is enshrined and a decorative Yamakasa (float) is always on display. The locals of Hakata nicknamed the shrine “”O-Kushidasan.”” Within the shrine area is the Hakata History Museum where historically valuable shrine related treasures are exhibited.

Nakasu

The largest west Japan's premier downtown area. Famous for the various food stalls that come out at night

Nakasu, one of the three largest premier downtown area in Japan along with Kabukicho of Tokyo and Susukino of Sapporo. Located in the long and narrow area between the Naka and Hakata rivers, the area is famous for the various food stalls that come out at night.

Ohori Park

An urban oasis located in the heart of Fukuoka City

A park built in the middle of the city using the renovated exterior moat of Fukuoka Castle. Inside the park there are restaurants, a Noh theater, and a Japanese garden. The area around the pond is 2km long and is populated by joggers. Also, the pond can be explored by boat.
