Osaka Castle was the residence of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who built it as a base from which to unify Japan.
The main keep of Osaka Castle was built in 1583 by Hideyoshi Toyotomi. The keep has been burnt down and rebuilt several times over the course of its history having been destroyed during the Siege of Osaka, and burnt down in a great fire at the time of the Meiji Restoration. The current main keep is the second complete reconstruction and dates from 1931.
The museum inside the castle and the magnificent outer stone walls are particularly impressive, while the observatory on the top floor affords sweeping views of the entire city.

Shitennoji Temple
Well known throughout Japan, Shitennoji was established by Prince Shotoku over 1,400 years ago.
It is a 15- to 20-minute walk from the hotel.
For a true local experience, visit on the 21st or 22nd, when the monthly temple fair is held and a range of stalls are set up in the grounds.
One of the largest aquariums in the world, the Kaiyukan reproduces the marine ecology of the Pacific Rim.
After passing through the tunnel-shaped “Aquagate”, you will enter the huge Pacific Ocean tank, which is home to a 4.23-meter long whale shark that swims leisurely among schools of fish of various sizes, as well as 12 other tanks, each with a different theme. Be entranced by the mystical charm of the sea as you watch the marine residents of the aquarium. The surreal atmosphere of the Floating Jellyfish Area makes for a particularly magical experience.
